It’s Foody Friday guys and today I’m coming to you with a review! This review is on a product that I recently tried. So quick back story, I am a fairly new vegetarian. I gave up meat in July of 2017. So as any new experience goes, it has been a bit of a journey trying to grow accustom. Not because I’m still a fiend for meat or anything lol. But because I really had no clue what to eat. I mean yeah, eat vegetables right. lol. Well I do, but It’s so aggy only eating sides for dinner every night. The good news is, the longer I’ve been learning this vegetarian lifestyle, the more I’ve come across different alternatives to meat. So today I’m going to give you a quick review on a brand that I tried this past week.
Field Roast: Italian Sausage
The brand is called Field Roast and you can find it at your local Target, Kroger, or Publix. This past week I was introduced to the Italian sausage that they offer. Its wrapped like any regular sausage would be, however, the ingredients are completely different. The ingredients are as follows: Filtered water, vital wheat gluten, expeller pressed safflower oil, eggplant, onions, yeast extract, kosher red wine (red wine, salt), garlic, barley malt, onion powder, dried red bell pepper, fennel seed, granulated garlic, sea salt and spices.
The texture is not exactly the same as your pork or turkey sausage and it’s not that noticeable at all. In fact, it’s way easier to chew and digest. It was made as a sausage substitute in an Italian pasta with garlic sauce in addition to the spinach and mushrooms. When I tell you this was one of the best meals I have had in a LONG time. Sis! I’m not lying. This made me want to sit down and get comfortable in my new vegetarian home. The flavor and everything is nothing short of a good Italian sausage. My husband and I almost felt guilty for eating it because it was too good to be a vegan product..LOL.
With all that being said, I highly recommend this product to all my new vegetarians who are just trying to find their way to a great meal. Or those trying to transition over, but don’t like peas and spinach enough to fully commit. Or anyone for that matter! Try it out if you eat meat 5 times a day. It’s a healthy alternative that tastes just as great as the regular thing. What’s it going to hurt if you substitute meat for a sec right? You’ll be amazed, I promise. With this product around, I’ll be vegetarian for the rest of my life. If you do give it a try or have already, let me know! Id like to hear how your experience was!
Until next time, Stay edgy cutie pi’s <3
