From Phat to Fab: My weight loss journey
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always struggled with my weight. I’ve tried several diets before. I’ve lost weight fast and gained it right back. Within a year time span, I had gained 70 pounds and to this day, I still can’t believe I allowed myself to gain so much weight. Now i’m not going to reveal what my weight was in May 2017, but lets just say, it was time for change.
Women are always looking for easy and fast ways to lose weight. We want that perfect body within a short period of time and although it’s possible, if you go back to how you ate before you lost the weight, you’ll gain it right back. I had finally decided that I would change my eating habits. Not to look good for the summer, but because I wanted to be healthy, fit, and in shape. I’m 26 years old and I didn’t want to be remembered as the fat girl. I also didn’t want to have health problems because with age, those problems will arise.
Hard work and Dedication
It was a struggle starting this new lifestyle. I love sweets and carbs. Those are my weaknesses. I had and still have days where I want to give up. I’m thankful for the support of my family, best friends and boyfriend. They’ve supported me throughout this journey and have always accepted me for me. When I tell you, this has been a very hard journey. I’m not even kidding. This whole process has taught me a lot about willpower. You have to be able to say no. You have to be able to tell yourself that you don’t need that brownie and that just because it’s there, doesn’t mean you have to eat it. There was a time when I didn’t care about what I put in my body. I’d eat fast food multiple times a week and often times, I’d eat late and go to bed soon after. I’m here to tell you, DON’T DO THAT! The weight will creep up on you and before you know it, you’re up 15 pounds.
How did I do it?
Since starting this new journey, I’ve lost almost 45 pounds. I did have a minor setback between October 2017-February 2018, but have since then started over. I have my cheat days every once in a while, but for the most part, I eat pretty healthy (lean meats, whole grains, colorful fruits and vegetables and water ONLY). My eating out has even been limited to one – two times a month. I take my lunch to work as often as I can. I don’t eat red meats and I limit my carb intake. This lifestyle change has allowed me to feel better. I’m not as sluggish as I use to be and I have way more energy. I also try to go to the gym almost every day and if I don’t make it to the gym, I will do a workout of some sort at home. I’m proud of the weight I’ve lost, but I’m definitely not done yet!
The change starts with you. If you’re looking to change your lifestyle, give clean eating a try! You won’t regret it. I will keep you all posted as my weight loss continues.
-Until next time, remember to sparkle! <3
